Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 19, 2026 · Version 1.0

We keep what we need to write a good story. Nothing else. Here are the details.

1. Who we are

Goodnight Grow is operated by Vertex Ventures, LLC, a Washington limited liability company.

Vertex Ventures, LLC
522 W Riverside Ave, STE N
Spokane, WA 99201-0504
stories@goodnightgrow.com

This policy covers goodnightgrow.com and the stories we email you. It's part of our Terms of Service.

2. Goodnight Grow is for parents

Accounts belong to adults. You must be 18 or older to sign up, and children don't get their own accounts or log in.

We collect a small amount of information about your child, which you give us. Your child never gives it to us directly, and we never contact your child. Stories go to your inbox.

3. What we collect

From you, the account holder:

  • Your email address and login credentials
  • Your subscription and billing status
  • The delivery time you choose
  • Emails you send us

About your child, from you:

  • First name or nickname
  • Age
  • Interests and favorites you share
  • The virtue you'd like stories to focus on
  • Anything else you tell us to help personalize stories (for example, "she's nervous about starting school")

Automatically, when you use the site:

  • An anonymous visitor and session identifier
  • Country and device type
  • Pages viewed and links clicked

On our free story page (goodnightgrow.com/try):

  • A one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address, used only to limit how many free stories one person can generate. We never store your actual IP address, and the hash can't be reversed back into one.
  • Your email address, if you choose to give it
  • The child's first name and age you enter, and the story we generate

Through Stripe, when you subscribe:

Stripe processes your payment and holds your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We receive a customer ID, the last four digits, and your subscription status.

4. What we don't collect

  • No last names
  • No photos, video, or audio
  • No contact information for your child — no email, no phone, no address
  • No precise location. Your delivery time is a time zone preference, not GPS.
  • No raw IP addresses
  • No sensitive categories: no health information, no biometric data, no government IDs

We don't ask for more than we need, because more data is more risk.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We do use a small number of vendors to run the service:

Vendors and the information they receive
VendorWhat they handleWhat they receive
AnthropicStory generationYour child's first name, age, interests, and chosen virtue
ResendEmail deliveryYour email address and the story text
SupabaseDatabase and accountsAccount and child profile information
LovableApplication hostingAccount and child profile information
StripePaymentsYour email, name, and billing details

These vendors work for us, under contract. They can only use your information to provide their service to us. They can't use it for their own purposes.

We do not allow your child's information to be used to train AI models. Story generation happens through Anthropic's commercial API, which does not train on the content sent through it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, if we need to protect someone's safety, or if the business is sold — in which case we'd tell you before your information transfers.

6. How we use it

  • To write and deliver nightly stories personalized for your child
  • To create and manage your account
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To respond when you contact us
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse of the free story page
  • To understand which pages and features people use, so we can improve them
  • To send you service messages about your account, billing, or changes to this policy

About "improving the product." We look at aggregate patterns — how many people use a feature, which pages get read. We don't read your child's stories to build a profile of your family, and we don't use your child's information to train AI models.

Marketing email. If you subscribe to Dad OS Weekly or another newsletter of ours, that's a separate opt-in and you can unsubscribe at any time without affecting your Goodnight Grow account.

7. How long we keep it

Data retention periods
InformationHow long we keep it
Your account and child profilesWhile your account is active
Delivered storiesWhile that child's profile exists — they're what makes each night continue from the last
Free story page: child's name, age, and story text30 days, then permanently erased
Free story page: your email addressUntil you ask us to delete it
Free story page: hashed IP records7 days
Website analytics12 months
Email delivery logs90 days
Payment webhook records12 months
Record of your agreement to these termsKept as legal evidence; identifying details removed when you delete your account
Unsubscribe and bounce recordsKept indefinitely, so we never email someone who asked us not to
Billing records held by StripePer Stripe's own retention, generally as long as tax and accounting law requires

An automated job runs daily to enforce these limits.

8. Deleting your information

Delete a single child. Remove a child's profile from your account at any time. This permanently deletes that child's profile, all of their stories, and their story history. It happens immediately and can't be undone.

Delete your whole account. Go to Account settings and choose "Delete my account." Before you confirm, we show you exactly what will be removed. This cancels any active subscription immediately and permanently deletes your profile, every child, every story, and any free-story-page records tied to your email.

What deletion doesn't reach:

  • Your billing history at Stripe. Stripe keeps invoices, receipts, and payment records independently, because tax and accounting law requires it. Your name and email are on that record. We can't delete it, and neither can you.
  • Stories already in your inbox. Once we've emailed a story, it's in your email — we can't take it back.
  • Anonymous analytics and delivery logs, which aren't tied to your profile after deletion and age out on the schedule in Section 7.

You can also email stories@goodnightgrow.com and we'll handle any of this for you.

9. Your child's information and your rights as a parent

We take this seriously, and the law does too. As the parent or guardian:

  • You control it. You gave us your child's information and you can review, correct, or delete it at any time from your account, or by emailing stories@goodnightgrow.com.
  • You can stop it. Deleting a child's profile stops all future stories for that child and removes their information permanently.
  • We won't ask your child for anything. Children don't have accounts, and we never contact a child directly.
  • We don't condition the service on extra information. You only have to give us what's needed to write a story.
  • We don't disclose your child's information to third parties other than the vendors listed in Section 5, who process it on our behalf.

If you have questions or concerns about your child's information, email stories@goodnightgrow.com and we'll respond within 10 business days.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Get a copy of it
  • Correct it
  • Delete it
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information — though we don't sell or share it
  • Not be treated differently for exercising these rights

To exercise any of these, email stories@goodnightgrow.com. We'll verify who you are, usually by confirming you control the account email, and respond within the time the law requires, generally 45 days.

California residents: we don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we haven't in the past 12 months.

Washington residents: we don't collect consumer health data.

11. Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of first-party cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences.

We use our own basic analytics to count page views and clicks, using an anonymous visitor identifier. We don't use third-party advertising trackers, and we don't allow anyone to track you across other websites.

12. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and vendors who maintain their own security standards. Where we can avoid storing something sensitive, we do — for example, we store a one-way hash of IP addresses on the free story page rather than the addresses themselves.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as required by law.

13. Where we operate

Goodnight Grow is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed there. We don't currently offer the service in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we'll email you and update the effective date and version at the top at least 30 days before it takes effect.
